Airfares
Children under 2 years of age can travel as an infant. This is without a seat and sitting on an adults lap. If an infant turns 2 years of age at any stage during travel or you would like a seat for your child, you will need to book as a child fare.
Children under 12 years of age can be booked as a child fare.
Passports
A passport is required for every traveller for international travel, including infants and children.
Children and infants travelling on domestic flights usually do not require ID when travelling with an adult.
Baggage
Children travelling on a Child ticket have the same baggage allowance as an adult.
Infants have different baggage guidelines and these can be different by airline. Most international flights have an infant allowance for checked baggage of 10kgs however we recommend confirming this if this does not show on the search results.
Infants may be allowed to bring a car seat or baby capsule on board. Strollers and collapsible prams are typically permitted to be taken to the boarding gate for checking.
It's important to note that airlines may have specific requirements for car seats to ensure the infant's safety. For detailed information on infant seat requirements, please check with your airline.
While there are restrictions on carrying liquids onto an aircraft, parents of infants are generally allowed to carry a certain amount of breast milk, baby formula, juice, or baby food for use during the flight. The allowed amounts may vary based on the destination and airline policies. It's advisable to check with your airline before departure to understand the specific regulations and allowances.
Meals
If your airfare includes a meal please ensure you request the correct meal for all travellers at the time of booking. Most airlines offer infant meals suitable for infants eating solid food, and Child meals for children. Please note these are not automatically added to an infant or child fare so to avoid disappointment make sure you ask our team to add this.
Seating
Infant fares do not include a seat and the infant must sit on an adults lap.
Child fares include an allocated seat.
Exit row seats cannot be booked for children or adults travelling with an infant.
If your infant is young they may be able to request a bassinette seat, these are never guaranteed and are limited by size and weight of the baby. Please add this to your booking notes if you would like to request a bassinette
